BCG Among Top Three on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” List

Firm Has Been Ranked in Top Three for Four Consecutive Years

The Boston Consulting Group has been ranked within the top three on Fortune’s “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for four straight years. Maintaining the highest ranking, by far, among consultancies, BCG has managed to nab a top-five spot for seven consecutive years and is one of only two companies to make the top dozen every year since 2006.

BCG’s investment in its people, high-impact client work, collaborative culture, career flexibility and mobility, extensive learning and development, world-class benefits, and commitment to social-impact work have all contributed to the firm’s consistently strong performance on the list. According to employees, hard work is balanced by an emphasis on self-care and a distinctive approach to morale. The global PTO program (predictability, teaming, and open communication), designed to help case teams optimize collaborative experiences while setting aside “protected time” for individuals, is a flagship example of BCG’s constant pursuit of better ways to work.

BCGers have reported marked improvements in both personal satisfaction and project performance after adopting some of these employee development and work-life balance initiatives, including an average 35% increase in value delivered to clients and a 100% increase in team effectiveness. Programs like PTO are constantly being updated and improved, reinforcing BCG’s dedication to career sustainability and satisfaction.

In addition, BCG offers more perks than most companies in the ranking. Specific benefits include generous leave-of-absence policies and comprehensive health care coverage. BCG’s LGBT-friendly practices and other diversity and inclusion programs have also been recognized as exceptional.

Great Place to Work, which provides the research underlying the Fortune rankings, noted in its review that:

  • 97% of employees say, “We have special and unique benefits here.”
  • 97% say, “I'm proud to tell others I work here.”
  • 96% say, “People here are willing to give extra to get the job done.”

Joe Davis, BCG’s chairman of North America, commented: “The fact that we’ve been in the top three for four years and the top five for seven straight years is nearly unparalleled. This is a testament to our deep commitment to providing exceptional support, development, and benefits to everyone on our team. Attracting top talent in an environment where employees quickly develop is critical to our success and the enormous value we deliver to clients. Recognitions like this confirm that our efforts are distinctive and highly effective.”
