Sylvain Santamarta leads Boston Consulting Group’s Center for Digital in Oil & Gas and is a core member of the firm’s Corporate Finance and Strategy practice.

Since joining BCG in 2008, Sylvain has worked with clients throughout the energy sector, across the full value chain. He has particularly deep experience in oil and gas, partnering with national, international, and independent oil companies and oil-field services players on a wide range of strategic and operational issues.

Sylvain has also led several projects in commodity trading and advised clients on how to generate value by exploiting market imperfections and the optionality of their asset base. His work in the energy industry has covered many different functional areas, including strategy, operating model and organization, business planning and capital allocation, production optimization, and mergers and acquisitions.

Sylvain is a dedicated upstream-oil-and-gas partner for BCG as well as the firm’s global topic leader for upstream strategy.

Before joining BCG, Sylvain worked for Shell International and held several roles in exploration and production and in corporate finance. He is a mechanical engineer and a Shell-trained upstream-production operations engineer.
