Laura A. Villani is a core member of The Boston Consulting Group’s Energy practice, where she focuses on new downstream (gas and power networks, retail, and energy efficiency) and renewables.

Since joining BCG in 2014, Laura has worked extensively with multiple gas and power network players along all the steps of the value chain. Her client engagements have covered large reorganizations for both transmission system operators and distribution system operators, lean and operational excellence programs, and new growth opportunities—both in terms of products and services as well as geographies.

Laura has supported most of the top EU players on multiple topics in the renewables space, with a strong focus on business development, operations and maintenance improvements, sourcing strategy, execution, and organization. She also led a thorough benchmarking of the wind energy sector looking at cost and performance across the EU and US.

Laura has led projects for many utilities on issues ranging from retail and energy efficiency strategy to generation operational excellence, energy performance contract optimization, and overall company reorganization. She has also played a key role in a number of major company restructuring efforts following merger or integration.

Before joining BCG, Laura held an internship at Morgan Stanley and worked for ten years at McKinsey & Company. She is fluent in Italian and English.
