In Bloomberg, BCG’s Jeremy Merz discusses the revival of Swiss dealmaking, which rose by a fifth to $44 billion in the first eight months of this year. Elaborating on BCG’s 2026 M&A report, he explains that corporations with large sums of cash and an appetite for acquisitions, coupled with some sponsors facing pressure to sell existing investments, are leading to a lower sponsor share. “It’s a fairly Swiss-specific effect,” Merz says. “In other countries, we actually see still quite high shares of sponsor-led deals.”
