BOSTON—Pandemic-induced lockdowns and unpredictable supply and demand shocks have contributed to significant disruption in global supply chains. For this reason, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), an American National Standards Institute-accredited Standards Developing Organization made up of business leaders, electrical experts, engineers, and scientists, has prioritized supply chain resilience as one of its three campaigns for 2023.
To support this initiative, NEMA today announced Boston Consulting Group (BCG), one of the world’s leading management consulting firms, as its Campaign Partner for Supply Chain Resiliency in 2023.
As Campaign Partner, BCG will provide insights and guidance on how NEMA’s more than 300 member companies can best prepare their supply chains for disruption and challenges in the coming decade. Early analysis from the partnership indicates that nearly 75% of NEMA members could benefit from taking a more proactive approach to resilience to be better prepared for the next supply chain shock. To address this, BCG will also develop a resiliency playbook, equipping NEMA member companies with immediate actions they can take to build stronger supply chains, independent of policy outcomes.
“In recent years, our members have battled essential component shortages, deficiencies in transportation networks, and costly inflation slowing important progress in electrification, automation, and energy security,” said Debra Phillips, President and CEO of NEMA. “Our partnership with BCG will provide our members with planning tools to strengthen their supply chain resilience for the next decade.”
“BCG is thrilled to be NEMA’s partner for its Supply Chain Resiliency Campaign,” said Simon Rees, a BCG managing director and partner and head of the firm’s North America Greentech, Machinery, and Automation practice. “Helping NEMA’s 300-plus member companies build and improve their resiliency capabilities will be critical as we continue to experience new disruptions – wherever they may come from in the years to come.”
