AI offers the potential to accelerate the discovery of new medicines. The authors conducted an analysis which shows that over the past decade the number of AI-discovered small molecules has been growing exponentially. They describe signs of a fast-approaching , AI-enabled wave with the potential to radically change drug discovery.
