Since joining BCG in 2000, Phil Hirschhorn has worked in the Sydney, London, and Frankfurt offices of The Boston Consulting Group. Phil leads BCG's Energy practice in Australia and New Zealand and focuses on power and utilities. He leads BCG’s green energy topic in Asia-Pacific.

Phil works for leading companies and for government agencies along the end-to-end energy value chain in Australia. His clients have come from industries including upstream oil and gas, generation, networks, power, gas, and fuel retail, and federal and state government. His projects cover large-scale transformation and both corporate and business unit strategy.

Over the last four years, Phil has dedicated his time to helping large generators, power and gas retailers, and energy networks to navigate—strategically and operationally—the transitions stemming from the advent of energy efficiency and distributed generation, policy and regulatory interventions, and changes to local and regional gas markets.

During his studies, Phil worked as a petroleum engineer for Woodside Offshore Petroleum and Santos and as an engineer for Schlumberger.
