Parul Bajaj joined Boston Consulting Group in 2010 after interning with BCG in 2009. She is currently an ambassador at the BCG Henderson Institute, working to build the institute's Asia-Pacific hub. She is also studying the topic “digital in emerging markets” as a part of her ambassadorship.
At BCG, Parul has focused on consumer goods, retail and media, and technology. Recent projects include designing the India beverages and snacks strategy for a global food and beverages player and developing the 2020 strategic vision for an Indian department store chain across elements of positioning, store concepts, private label, omnichannel, promotions, and campaigns.
No technology, no matter how powerful or pervasive, will affect India’s 1 billion consumers—of whom 50% will soon be online—in the same way.
The size of the online hotel bookings industry in India is estimated to be $4 Bn by 2020. The Indian leisure traveler today has a long, complex hotel booking journey with low brand loyalty. Industry players will need to differentiate their product and service offerings from their competitors to attract, retain and convert consumers.
