Saibal Chakraborty leads Boston Consulting Group’s Tech & Digital Advantage (TDA) practice in India. He has 25 years of international and multi-industry experience, having worked in North America and Europe before focusing on India and South Asia over the last decade.
Saibal is a core member of the Public Sector practice and leads the firm's digital government pursuits in South Asia. He is engaged in national-level programs in India, including India AI Mission and Government e-Marketplace (GeM), as well as state-level AI programs. He has worked and published extensively on the topic of digital public infrastructure (DPI), including a global publication on the state of DPIs across more than 20 countries.
In the private sector, Saibal has led engagements with clients in financial services, utilities, transport, and health care. Saibal’s work focuses on digital applications and open platforms design and build, modernizing legacy systems to cloud-native architecture, building enterprise-wide data platforms to enable advanced analytics/AI/GenAI, technology sourcing including complex, bundled procurements, next-generation digital organization design, shared services transformations, and post-merger integrations.
Saibal also leads BCG’s business interests in Bangladesh. He has led marquee engagements in Bangladesh, such as the national smart grid strategy, national ICT masterplan, IT sector investment promotion, digital strategies for water utilities, ecosystem build for startups and the growth strategy for a leading mobile financial services provider.
Prior to joining BCG, Saibal spent ten years at Booz & Company (formerly Booz Allen Hamilton) serving the technology agenda of large financial services, energy, and public sector clients, mostly in Europe. Prior to Booz & Company, Saibal worked as a software engineer and a technology architect at IBM, Lockheed Martin, and e-commerce startups, mostly in the US.
