Managing Director & Senior Partner
Sylvain Santamarta leads Boston Consulting Group’s Center for Digital in Oil & Gas and is a member of BCG’s Energy practice leadership team.
Since joining BCG in 2008, Sylvain has worked with clients throughout the energy sector, across the full value chain. He has extensive experience working with national, international, and independent oil companies on a wide range of strategic and operational issues.
Sylvain has most recently led several digital transformations for clients seeking to reinvent their core operations (drilling, exploration, production operations) and to build new business models (chemicals, B2B oil products, renewables power) leveraging data and new technologies. He also advises large energy players on their decarbonization journey starting from their own footprint and envisaging their businesses of tomorrow.
Before joining BCG, Sylvain worked for Shell International and held several roles in exploration and production and in corporate finance. He is a mechanical engineer by training, in addition to holding an MBA.
As empresas que atendem aos desafios ESG em mercados emergentes descobrem que ser um líder em sustentabilidade abre oportunidades de crescimento.
To unlock the full value of existing operations, oil and gas companies must improve collaboration among their business and IT teams and leverage the mountains of data that they have at their disposal.
Companies that meet ESG challenges in emerging markets find that being a sustainability leader unlocks growth opportunities.
Companies need to decarbonize their existing operations, but they can also create value from new sustainable businesses. This dual imperative calls for a structured approach to change.
When it comes to sustainability, senior leaders are shifting from ambition to execution—and that’s the hard part. Companies know they need to decarbonize and improve sustainability across their value chains, but often they struggle to translate that ambition into results.
A recent BCG study finds that upstream O&G companies struggle to deliver value from digital and that digital maturity correlates with value delivery.
Many companies fail to capture key benefits of replicating equipment and processes in a virtual environment. Taking these steps is essential to success.
