BCG’s Bay Area business is in the vanguard of many of today’s most innovative companies and business models, making for a fast-paced and intellectually stimulating atmosphere supported by a relaxed and informal working environment.
We operate from two office locations: one in San Francisco and one in Mountain View, which also houses our DigitalBCG Immersion Center. These two offices allow us to serve a broad array of industries, including financial services, health care, energy, advanced technology, and consumer and retail, while our DigitalBCG Immersion Center in Silicon Valley gives us a unique space to showcase our digital capabilities and build on our strong connections to Silicon Valley’s innovation ecosystem.
Our offices bring together individuals from many countries, cultures, educational backgrounds, and experiences. We operate as a single Bay Area consulting team, which means that the staffing, learning and development, and career development processes are run jointly across the Bay Area—and often across all of our West Coast offices. Our consulting staff hails from the far corners of the world, and from very diverse backgrounds—but we work seamlessly together. In San Francisco, we are located in the Embarcadero Center, which offers outstanding views of the picturesque City by the Bay. We are steps away from the Ferry Building, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the California Cable Car line. In Silicon Valley, our office is in the heart of Mountain View, on iconic Castro Street. Opened in late 2018, this office provides a state-of-the-art space for our consultants and cross-functional digital team.

As part of BCG's ongoing and significant investment in the digital capabilities and expertise we offer our clients, BCG’s Silicon Valley office and Digital Center bring together teams working on digital topics across BCG’s businesses: BCG, BCG Digital Ventures, BCG GAMMA, B Capital, and BCG Platinion. This allows us to serve both Silicon Valley clients and global clients who want to learn about the digital innovation and disruption that is at the core of Silicon Valley.
The DigitalBCG Immersion Center enables clients to experience the full spectrum of BCG’s digital capabilities and expertise, through immersive “digital days” that bring to life leading-edge digital topics to help clients discover new avenues for digital disruption and accelerate their digital transformation journeys. At the same time, our Silicon Valley location fosters a deep engagement with our Silicon Valley-based clients and the wider innovation ecosystem. We have the ability to co-locate teams and convene on a range of leading-edge digital topics by providing a physical space and BCG-curated community for clients and alumni to connect and engage.
Our proximity to Silicon Valley—and its strong core of both technology and biotech companies—has influenced our client base. However, with our focus extending to Northern California and the Pacific Northwest, our client base ranges beyond technology and health care to encompass clients in financial services, energy, consumer goods, retail, and industrial goods.
The Bay Area has always been on the cutting edge of community service and of developing new operating models for nonprofit and community service organizations. Serving the community is an important part of BCG’s mission in the Bay Area. Our offices undertake social impact assignments every year that deal with important public sector issues. Recent projects include working with the Gates Foundation, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative, and the San Francisco Marin Food Bank.
The intensity of our work fosters a close family atmosphere within the office that extends into the staff's social life. We host a number of events during which BCGers and their families can spend time together outside the office and get to know one another better. We host an annual ski trip to Squaw Valley, a West Coast office group retreat, Friday forums, alumni events, Oktoberfest, BCG kids day, March Madness brackets, “design your own” events, and more!
Together, the Bay Area, Los Angeles, and Seattle offices operate as a West Coast system, focusing on the market in the western United States. We cover a variety of industries, including (but not limited to) technology, energy, health care, consumer and retail, and industrial goods.
By working together, we are able to offer our clients a rich pool of experience and expertise to address their issues. We cross-staff West Coast projects to give our teams a broader range of opportunities across a variety of industries and practice areas on the West Coast. The offices also coordinate training and development programs around joint events, which give staff from all three offices the chance to get to know each other and learn from each other.
