Amsterdam—Boston Consulting Group (BCG) has appointed Tessa van Swieten as Managing Partner for the Netherlands, effective 1 May 2026.
She succeeds Dirk-Maarten Molenaar, who has led the office for the past five years, in line with BCG’s rotational leadership model. Her appointment follows BCG Amsterdam’s recent move to its new office in The Pulse building in the Zuidas district.
Van Swieten’s appointment marks a new chapter for the firm as it continues to deepen its impact in the Dutch market, supporting leading organizations as they navigate a period of profound technological, economic and societal change.
During Molenaar’s tenure, BCG Netherlands’ net turnover increased by over 20%, serving many of the country’s leading private, public and social sector organizations.
As a senior member of BCG’s public sector practice, van Swieten has focused on issues that are increasingly shaping the Dutch landscape, including digital and AI transformation, public sector effectiveness, resilience and the energy transition. She joined BCG in 2013. Most recently, she led BCG’s Unlocking Potential initiative across the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium, bringing together efforts on diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and mental health. Her appointment reflects BCG’s continued investment in leadership that combines strong local market understanding with a people-centred approach to change.
Pranay Jhunjhunwala, Managing Partner for the UK, Netherlands and Belgium, said: “I’m very excited about Tessa taking on the role of office leader and for her to take our Amsterdam business to the next level with her very clear vision for where we need to go.”
Tessa van Swieten, Managing Partner for the Netherlands, said:
“I’m excited to take on this role at a time when organisations are under real pressure to adapt and move faster. Whether it’s scaling AI, managing geopolitical uncertainty or accelerating the energy transition, the challenges are complex and urgent. Our role is to help clients turn ambition into measurable results, by combining local understanding with the best of BCG’s global expertise.
I’m also proud to lead our team from our new home at The Pulse and to continue building an environment where our people can do their best work and grow in a rapidly changing world.”
Dirk-Maarten Molenaar, Managing Director and Senior Partner at BCG and outgoing Managing Partner for the Netherlands said:
“It has been a privilege to lead BCG in the Netherlands over the past five years. Tessa combines strong commercial traction with an inclusive leadership style. I am very pleased to hand over the leadership of the office to her and confident she will build further on the momentum we have created.”
