Working in Minneapolis

The Minneapolis office opened its doors in 2007 and has rapidly grown in size to a scale capable of blazing new trails with our clients, burnishing our reputation as a hidden gem in BCG's global portfolio. We have a tight-knit, entrepreneurial culture that provides expanded opportunities for internal leadership roles and close connections with the other Great Lakes offices. Our local leadership team will be actively involved in your professional journey—engineering opportunities to push you further while supporting you along the way. You will join an inspirational set of colleagues who invest in each other and the community while driving meaningful change where it matters most.

Work and Culture

History and the Area

At BCG Minneapolis, you have the best of both worlds: working in an energetic business community with a concentrated hub of Fortune 500 companies while living with all the benefits of a vibrant and attractive city for young professionals and families. Our office culture mirrors this balance with a supportive small-office approach, and we have grown rapidly to serve our local market. Our office is in downtown Minneapolis and has recently expanded to accommodate our continuous growth. We are centrally located among the 17 Fortune 500 companies in the area—with easy access to the airport, skyways, and local food truck scene.

Who We Work With

Our office serves a wide variety of Fortune 500, regional, and nonprofit companies. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work across industries, including health care and medtech, retail, consumer goods, industrial goods, financial institutions, and social impact. We also have specific expertise in many functional areas, including operations, marketing and sales, insurance and risk, and many others.

Our office actively supports all BCG programs. Through the Ambassador program, we have recently sent staff to Dubai, Stockholm, and Tokyo in addition to supporting other international staffing opportunities across the globe. We are also very active in our social impact program and have supported many local nonprofits with dedicated project support including Second Harvest Heartland, the Northside Achievement Zone, Generation Next, and many others. In addition, because we are a midsize office, we provide an expanded opportunity to get involved in many BCG initiatives, including secondments, the Associate Abroad program, mentoring, Women@BCG, our global LGBT Network, the US Ethnic Diversity Network for African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics, and more.

Our Office Culture

Our office culture is based on the relationships we build with each other and our ability to work together on teams and deliver positive result to companies, to BCG, and to each other. Although we work hard, we also set aside time to enjoy our great city and the lasting friendships we have built at BCG. From our annual summer retreat up north to broomball and curling in the winter, we focus on having fun as a whole office—from partners to associates!

BCG in Minneapolis is an amazing place. We have all the benefits of a small office—really knowing our colleagues and what makes them unique—and we have all the benefits of BCG, including the chance to work on the most critical and impactful projects with our clients.

Ken Davidson
Managing Director & Partner

I joined BCG in Minneapolis to be surrounded by world-leading minds. Since then, every day has been better than the last, thanks to the people, the opportunities, the office, and the city. Where else can I run along the Mississippi before advising on public-private energy negotiations, attend the Minnesota State Fair, and celebrate my colleagues' victory in the BCG World Hockey Championship? Only at BCG in Minneapolis.

There is tremendous potential to work with amazing companies in Minneapolis, and what a great pleasure to team with such amazing, diverse, talented people to help these companies perform even better. And, of course, we have fun while we do it, because all of these people that I work with are also my friends!
