Technology is fueling several major trends in urbanization and city development, explains Yvonne Zhou, a BCG managing director and senior partner. Notably, improvements in infrastructure are creating more connected and larger city clusters. At the same time, cities enabled by big data—through mobile, artificial intelligence, and the internet of things—are far more efficient and human-friendly.

Yvonne Zhou joined Boston Consulting Group in March 2004. She has worked extensively with public organization, infrastructure companies, development banks, and industrial companies on topics such as green transformation, green innovation, green food and water, adaptation and resilience, digital transformation, and organization capability and enablement.

Yvonne is the firm's global lead for climate and sustainability in the public sector, the global markets lead for the public sector, and the lead for agriculture, water, and the environment in the Middle East region.

Before joining BCG, Yvonne worked with ZS Associates. She has also worked with Y.D. Communication in Switzerland as a television producer and with Rhone-Poulenc (now Sanofi) in China as a sales and marketing assistant.
