COVID-19 quickened the insurance industry’s transition to digital, and three-quarters of insurance employees worldwide worked outside the office full- or part time during the pandemic. According to a recent BCG survey of the industry’s global workforce, the crisis also changed what employees value and what they need to succeed in their jobs.

  • If given the choice, 69% of industry employees would prefer to continue some mix of onsite and remote work.
  • As the industry modernizes, it’s stoked employees’ fears that their positions could become obsolete. Almost half (48%) are concerned that their jobs will become redundant.
  • Fifty-eight percent of global insurance talent would consider working remotely for a foreign employer, including 64% of employees who work in digital roles such as in IT, automation, and data analytics.
