To realize the promise of GenAI, companies must invest not only in tools but also in the people who will use them. Ironically, the best way to teach the most human of skills may come from machines. Evidence from a BCG Institute experiment suggests that GenAI-powered tutoring can be as effective as—and more engaging than—traditional teaching methods.
Specifically, BCG’s Sagar Goel, Shubhankar Sohoni, and Lisa Krayer found that a GenAI tutor can improve personalized learning at scale, better enable learners with opportunities for self-reflection (key to building skills), and efficiently facilitate learning on demand. By putting a GenAI tutor to work in three critical ways, companies could generate significant value.
