The Key to Managing CEO Pressure

In The Wall Street Journal CEO Brief newsletter, BCG’s Gregory Rice discusses how much of the pressure reported by CEOs stems from their senior leadership team. According to a BCG survey of about 500 CEOs, many view their CFO as the top threat to their job security. To reduce this tension, he advocates for a close partnership between CEOs and CFOs when reporting to the board of directors: “When both sign on to the value creation strategy with the board, if there’s a shortfall, it doesn’t land exclusively in the CEO’s lap.”
