He works mainly with energy, industrial goods, financial and public sector clients with a specific focus on the use and effects of markets to drive profitable investment in decarbonization and the energy transition
Gates is currently concentrating on the technology and economics of decarbonization and the energy transition, with a specific focus on funding the journey. His work helps clients in the public and private sector navigate complex decisions arising from the essential but volatile influence of markets for capital and commodities, including energy and carbon.
Before joining BCG, Gates was a portfolio manager and investor with Alliance Bernstein and First Sentier, and held various corporate strategic and operational roles.
