Managing Director & Senior Partner
Jonathan Croog leads the Principal Investors & Private Equity (PIPE) practice for North America, where he is responsible for coordinating and supporting Boston Consulting Group's PIPE efforts in North America.
Jonathan focuses on the private equity sector, helping clients evaluate potential acquisitions and improve the performance of their portfolio companies. He leads the "PE ring-fence" at BCG, a dedicated team of consultants who support the Financial Institutions practice and business development efforts.
Since joining BCG in 2005, Jonathan has led due diligence projects across a range of industries and topics. In the financial services sector, he has led projects in personal lending and insurance, wealth management, consumer lending, auto lending and credit, and mortgages.
In retail, his due diligence work has focused on multichannel shopping (television, catalog, and Internet) as well as building-products businesses (hardwood and softwood flooring). He has also worked on due diligences projects in business services and media.
Prior to joining the firm, Jonathan worked at Mercer Management Consulting, where he focused largely on financial services clients, and at Bain Capital, where he focused on leveraged buyout transactions in industrial and other businesses.
If the last decade was a golden age for PE, the next one could be more gilded. Funds have the potential to deliver exponential growth—provided firms make the needed strategic and operational changes.
During the next slowdown, the smart money will double down on growth, fast-track transformation, and capitalize on attractive, well-priced opportunities.
The technology has real potential, but it’s no panacea. What to look for when evaluating the immediate and long-term benefits of blockchain-enabled counterfeit protection.
