Toivo Hensgens joined Boston Consulting Group in Amsterdam in 2018 and transferred to Nairobi in 2019 to establish BCG's East Africa footprint. In his time at BCG, Toivo has led engagements in digital transformation, AI, platform design, process redesign and operating model implementation for financial services firms, telecoms, utilities, and development and public sector clients in East and Southern Africa.
Toivo's background as a quantum physicist turned strategy consultant informs his passion for all forms of innovation, social impact, and cross-sectoral collaboration. Among his recent engagements, he has run analytics for a countrywide handheld maternal health diagnostic device rollout for a consortium of a foundation and leading global pharmacy companies and led the national AI roadmap development and activation for an East African country from use case prioritization to policy, infrastructure, and supporting enablers.
