Trudi Makhaya is a core member of Boston Consulting Group's Energy and Climate & Sustainability practices, and an expert in geopolitics and trade. She has over 20 years of experience in economic policy, sustainability, and investment mobilization. She joined BCG in 2023 as a senior adviser.

During her time at BCG, Trudi has leveraged her expertise on economics, sustainability, and economic diplomacy as well as her in-depth knowledge of the diverse stakeholder landscape, to support clients. Her projects have included developing private sector recommendations for a just energy transition skilling strategy, and creating the rooftop solar acceleration strategy for an international development agency. She was part of the knowledge partner team for the B20 Trade & Investment and Energy Mix & Just Transition task forces.

Between 2018 and 2023, Trudi served as full time economic advisor to South Africa President Cyril Ramaphosa, providing technical support on economic policy and acting as negotiator at the G20.

A prominent South African economic leader, Trudi was a member of the executive committee of the Competition Commission of South Africa and served as Deputy Commissioner. Prior to public service, she held various management consulting and corporate roles, including serving on the economic advisory council of World Bank President Ajay Banga, and previous roles as non-executive directorships at JSE-listed Spar Group, MTN South Africa, and Vumelana Advisory Fund.
