Tibor Mérey is a core member of Boston Consulting Group’s Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) and Tech & Digital Advantage (TDA) practices. He leads the TMT practice in Austria and serves as BCG’s global lead for the tech innovation offering, focusing on emerging technologies and their transformative business applications.
In addition, Tibor is the X in TMT lead, driving the integration and collaboration between BCG X (BCG’s tech build and design unit) and the broader TMT practice, to deliver impactful, tech-enabled solutions. A recognized global expert on the metaverse, he explores its economic potential and helps clients identify and implement practical use cases for new technologies, including tokenization. He recently co-authored BCG’s Ripple Tokenization report which examines how tokenization is transforming critical infrastructure across industries—from real estate to lending and credit—paving the way for a financial system that is programmable, interoperable, always on, and broadly accessible.
Tibor joined BCG in 2011 and spent a year as an Ambassador in the Houston office in 2014. In 2018, he served as interim Chief Customer Officer at a major European telecommunications provider. Prior to BCG, he co-founded a freestyle fashion startup in Switzerland. Tibor is fluent in German, English, French, Spanish, and Hungarian.
