Leaders Need Flexibility, Not Forecasting

In Fortune, BCG’s Carol Liao explains that amid global uncertainty, leaders should focus less on trying to predict the future and more on building adaptability. She notes that Chinese executives are navigating anxieties related to generational shifts as well as the challenges presented by globalization and AI, which call for a new leadership style. Liao advises moving from “command-and-control, symphony-type leadership to a more jazz leadership—more distributed decision making, more experimentation, more tolerance for failure.”
