COVID-19: An Opportunity in Crisis for ASEAN Health Care Providers

Health care providers are on the frontline of battling COVID-19 and the private health care industry has been particularly hard hit. As a result of the pandemic, elective procedures have dropped by 40 to 70%. Supply chains have been disrupted, forcing hospitals to secure expensive and elusive drugs, personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitizers from outside of ASEAN. Burdened with a squeezing topline at a time of expanding costs, health care providers find themselves in a financial crisis. But every crisis comes with an opportunity. While most hospitals are struggling to weather this crisis, the likely winners are already acting to succeed in a post-COVID-19 world.
